When you have a lot of data stored in a lot of different locations we often struggle to find a way to bring it all together. I know that myself, I have lots of videos and photos and files stored on many different hard drives and it certainly becomes challenging to located what I am after.
Take my photo collection for example. I have photos of my holidays, my kids, my wife, christmas and birthdays, events and places, our dogs and other photos that people have sent me. They are all categorized to a certain extent, but really it would be nice to have a master directory if you like of all of these photos.
Well Windows 7 has the answer, with the new Windows 7 Libraries feature. Imagine you have 10 folders containing photos (or any other file type really) and those folders are all over your computer, even on differnt drives. We can use the Windows 7 Libraries to create a single folder where all of our photos can be brought together under this one new "Library". The truth is, this new folder really only contains links to all of the photos underneath it for easy access. Your photos are still stored in their original location, but we can use these Windows 7 Libraries to create a symbolic link to all of the files spread over our computer.
And with Windows 7 Libraries, instead of having to navigate many folders and drives to find your data, you can find it all, under the 1 single Windows 7 Library.
